MFA Elite Division: Atlanta and KSA face-off in title decider

The MFA Elite Division League is closing in on its business end of the season, with Atlanta and Karnatak Sporting Association(KSA) going up against each other in the final and title-deciding game of the season.

The match is scheduled to be held on 11th March at 3:30 PM. A good number of spectators is also expected to be present at the Neville D’souza Ground in Bandra to witness the highly anticipated fixture.

Atlanta FC

Ambernath United Atlanta have continued their scintillating form from last season to this season. The defending champions have not lost a single game this season, and have 40 points from the 14 games played. The only game they dropped points this season was a 2-2 draw against Oranje FC in the penultimate fixture spicing up the final league fixture.

So magnificent has been Atlanta’s form that, they have only dropped points only two times in the last 2 years. Both times, the match ended in a draw.

Atlanta will be looking to win their 2nd title in consecutive years. A win or draw against KSA would guarantee the silverware for them. A loss, however, will assure KSA their MFA Elite Division League title.

Key Player

Arif Sheikh

Arif Sheikh has been pivotal in Atlanta’s run this season. The 29-year-old has netted 21 goals for Atlanta and is the joint-top scorer in the league alongside Sanchit Singh of KSA. The striker had also represented Maharashtra in the Santosh Trophy qualifiers but missed out on the final round. He will surely be one of the threats for the KSA defence in Saturday’s game.

Karnatak Sporting Association (KSA)

KSA have been nothing short of phenomenal this season. The 2019-20 MFA Elite Division Champions have secured 38 points from the 14 games played and haven’t lost a single game this season. They have only dropped points 2 times this season, with both being a draw.

KSA will be looking to grab their 2nd title after the triumph in the 2019-20 MFA Elite Division season. If KSA has to win the title they would have to do, what no other team in the Mumbai football circuit has managed in the last two years i.e. an outright victory against Atlanta FC. A loss or even a draw for KSA will mean that Atlanta wins the title.

Key Player

Sanchit Singh

Sanchit Singh is definitely one of the key players for KSA this season. He has bagged 21 goals this season and is the joint-top scorer with Atlanta’s Arif Sheikh. The 24-year-old has been in excellent form this season and has been pivotal in KSA’s run this season.
