High-scoring games headline Day 1 of Subroto Cup Junior Boys (U 17)

Three teams were disqualified from the 63rd Subroto Cup Sub-Junior Boys International Football Tournament which got underway today in Bengaluru due to fielding overage players.

The first day of Junior Boys (U 17) of the 62nd Subroto Cup Inter-School International Football Tournament saw multiple high-scoring matches, as the group stage matches got underway at various venues of the national capital.

Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 37 B, Chandigarh, M.I.C English Medium H.S, Athanikal, Malappuram, Kerala, Bangladesh Krida Shiksha Protishthan, Bangladesh, Assam Rifles Public School, East Khasi Hills, Shillong, Sanjeevan Vidhyaniketan & Chhatrapati Shivaji Kanishta Mahavidyalaya (Somvarreth) Panhada, Kolhapur, Maharashtra, Govt. Haulawang High School, Haulawang, Lunglei, Mizoram, Mamta Modern School, Vikaspuri, New Delhi and Amenity Public School, Rudrapur, Uttarakhand scored goals in double digits to start the tournament on a high.

At the G.D Goenka Football Ground, last edition’s runners-up, Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 37 B, Chandigarh beat Shaheed Jawan Muthukoya Memorial SSS, Amini, Lakshadweep 14-0 in a Group A match to start their campaign with a win. Rohit scored a hat trick for the winners. In the other match of the group, Ramakrishna Mission School, Aalo, West Siang, Arunachal Pradesh edged past +2 Durga Uchh Vidyalay, Shakti Nagar, Baanka, Bihar 3-2 to start their campaign with a win.

Group B at the G.D Goenka Football Ground saw two high-scoring games. M.I.C English Medium H.S, Athanikal, Malappuram, Kerala scored 18 goals past Laxman Gyanpith DLSS, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Rishad scored seven goals for the winners while Bose and Sandeep scored hat tricks. In the other match of the group, Bangladesh Krida Shiksha Protishthan (BKSP) beat The Emerald Heights School, Indore, Madhya Pradesh 16-0 to start the campaign with a win. M.Mannik and Mohibulla scored four goals each for the side from Bangladesh.

At the Subroto Park Football Ground, T.G English Medium School, Bishnupur, Manipur beat Ramkrishna Mission Vivekanand Vidyapith, Narayanpur, Chhattisgarh 3-0 and in the other match of the group, DG NCC, Kolkata, West Bengal beat Inventure Academy, Bangalore 3-1.

In Group D at the Subroto Park Football Ground, Assam Rifles Public School, East Khasi Hills, Shillong started the tournament with a 14-0 win over St. Francis Xavier High School, Dudhani, Silvassa, DD & DNH. Jason and Pherman scored four goals each for the winners. In the other match of the group, Sanjeevan Vidhyaniketan & Chhatrapati Shivaji Kanishta Mahavidyalaya (Somvarreth) Panhada, Kolhapur, Maharashtra beat Navy Children School, Mumbai 15-0. Prithviraj, Rinel and Bikas scored four goals each for the winners.

At the Ambedkar Stadium, Govt. Haulawang High School, Haulawang, Lunglei, Mizoram scored the highest goals in the day, scoring 26 goals past Army Public School, Samba, Jammu & Kashmir. PC Lalruatmawia and Vanlalramnghaka scored seven goals each while Ngurthaxmawia scored six goals for the Mizo school to start Group E with a huge win. In the other high-scoring match of the group, Mamta Modern School, Vikaspuri, New Delhi beat Air Force Bal Bharti School, New Delhi 17-0. Aditya scored six while Arjun and Lekuachandra scored four each for the winners.

In Group F at the Ambedkar Stadium, Govt. Senior Secondary School, Namchi, South Sikkim, Sikkim beat Mother International School, Zahir, Brambey, Ranchi, Jharkhand 4-1 with the help of Adrial’s hat trick. In the other match of the group, Don Bosco Vaduthala, Kochi, Kerala edged past Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya School, Pakur, Jharkhand 3-2 to start the group stage with a win.

At the Tejas Football Ground, Tripura Sports School, Badharghat, Tripura started Group G with a win over Sainik School, Chhingchip, Mizoram 4-1. In the other match of the group, Bampather Bengenabari H.S.S, Aideobari, Assam eased past Vasant Rao Dempo H.S.S of Arts, Science & Commerce, Cujira, Goa 6-0. Bhuson scored a hat trick for the winners.

In Group H at the Tejas Football Ground, Greenwood School, Khelo India Centre, Nagaland beat Sudarshanpur Dwarika Prasad Uchh Vidyachakra, Raiganj, West Bengal 3-0. In the other match of the group, Amenity Public School, Rudrapur, Uttarakhand beat Kendriya Vidyalaya, Lokra, Shonitpur, Assam 15-0 to start their campaign on a high. Boinao Singh scored nine goals for the winners.

DAY 2 will see 16 group-stage matches being played at various venues.
