Eurosport India set to broadcast Merdeka Cup 2023
Mumbai, 12 October, 2023: Eurosport India, from the house of Warner Bros Discovery and the go-to destination for passionate sports fans in India, today announced the acquisition of the broadcast rights for the Merdeka Cup, which will feature the Indian National Football Team.
The Merdeka Tournament, which has gained the name ‘Mini Asia Cup’ over the years, will take place after a gap of nearly a decade, after AIFF President Mr Kalyan Chaubey requested his FA Malaysia counterpart Dato Haji Hamidin bin Haji Mohammad Amin to invite India. Also joining the Blue Tigers and hosts Malaysia in the tournament are Tajikistan.
The tournament will now be a tri-nation event after the withdrawal of Palestine. The Blue Tigers will take on the hosts Malaysia at Bukit Jalil Stadium in Kuala Lumpur in the first match of the tournament which will be held on Friday, 13th October 2023. The winner of the first match will lock horns against Tajikistan in the final on Tuesday,17th October 2023. Both the matches will be broadcasted live in India on Eurosport channel from 6:30 PM IST onwards.
