Anshu Madhukar, Aditya Shah star with brace as Mumbai Ultras FC beat Spartans FC 6-2

A first half brace from Anshu Madhukar and late two goals from Aditya Shah quelled Spartans challenge as Mumbai Ultras take home all three points in a 6-2 win

Mumbai Ultras came into the game with 16 points from 7 Games and 4 points behind league leaders Young Guns (Rhema) and especially with Bombay Gymkhana, Soccer Saga, and Om Saidham FC closely trailing. Spartans, positioned in 7th place with 10 points, were eager to create an upset.

Mumbai Ultras started brightly and the first major chance for them came in the 9th minute, Anshu Madhukar received a ball in the middle of the box from a low cross coming from the right wing. Anshu takes a touch and then a shot but Spartans keeper makes a point blank save to parry it away from the goal.

Against the run of play, it was Spartans who took the lead when Brandon Picardo pulled off a stunner scoring a goal from halfway line.

Ultras didn’t take long to equalize when Joyson Chettiar gets on the ball from the right wing drives into the box before cutting it back for Anshu in the middle of the box, who made no mistake this time with a clinical finish to make it 1-1

In the 36th minute, Joyson turned scorer when Shreyas Zele sends him through on goal with a brilliant pass. Joyson runs between two defenders before slipping it past the keeper to make it 2-1.

Minutes before half time, Shreyas Zele once again does a brilliant work beating couple of players on the left wing before sending in a ball into the box that Anshu latches out however his shot deflects of the keeper and hits the woodwork before getting cleared out.

Second half started on a frenzied state as 3 goals came within the first 6 minutes. It started with Ultras extending their lead quickly within two minutes of start. Robert’s delivery in to the box finds Anshu at the far post who heads it in to make it 3-1. Minutes later another delivery from Roberts from the left wing resulted in an own goal as Mumbai Ultras went 4-1 up.

Spartans responded with goal immediately, PK Ngachonhor delivers a precise shot into the box that the Ultras Keeper could only parry it up to the bar, the ball rebounded in but Brandon Picardo was alert enough to poke in and bring the score to 4-2.

In the 68th minute, Spartans went close again with two quick shots on target from the right wings, however Dylan pulls off the double save to deny his opponent the goal.

In the 81st minute, Ultras managed to increase the lead to three goals once again when Joyson Chettiar released substitute Aditya Shah in to the box from the right, the latter made no mistake in finding the bottom corner with a precise shot past the Spartan keeper to make it 5-2

In the final moments of the game, Aditya Shah was once again at the end of a Ultras attack finding the net to complete half a dozen of goals for his team and put the game to bed. The win puts Ultras right behind league leaders Young Guns (Rhema) in the points table with just a point separating the two sides.
