Ambernath United Atlanta FC secure thrilling comeback win in Hero 2nd Division debut

Ambernath United Atlanta FC pulled off a remarkable comeback in their debut match in the Hero 2nd Division, defeating Hyderabad FC (R) 2-1 at the Cooperage Stadium in Mumbai.

The match began with Ambernath United Atlanta FC on the front foot, looking to impose their style of play on the opposition. They created some good chances early on, with Johnson Mathew’s free-kick hitting the crossbar. However, Hyderabad FC (R) soon came into the game and started to create some chances of their own. The match heated up with some rash fouls from both sides, resulting in yellow cards for Umesh Perambra and Soyal Joshi.

In the 36th minute, Hyderabad FC (R) took the lead through a headed goal from Aron Vanlalrinchhana, who met a cross from the left flank. Despite Ambernath United Atlanta FC’s best efforts, they were unable to find an equalizer before the end of the first half.

In the second half, Ambernath United Atlanta FC came out with renewed energy and purpose. They soon got their reward when Arif Shaikh headed in Johnson Mathew’s free-kick to level the scores.

Coach Steven Dias then brought on Abhijit Taware, who made an immediate impact. In the 76th minute, he scored what turned out to be the winner after a melee in the Hyderabad box, making it 2-1 for the home side.

Hyderabad FC (R) tried to mount a comeback, but they were unable to find the back of the net. The game ended with Ambernath United Atlanta FC emerging as the victors, with their unbeaten streak still intact. A crowd of 2150 fans turned up to watch the game, and they were treated to a thrilling encounter, with both sides putting in a strong performance.

Ambernath United Atlanta FC face ARA FC next on March 25th as they look to build on this result and continue their impressive start to life in the Hero 2nd Division.
