WIFA Interdistrict U-17 Girls Tournament: Kolhapur & Pune Through To The Final

Kolhapur and Pune beat Mumbai and Nashik respectively to reach the final of the ongoing WIFA Interdistrict U-17 Girls Tournament
Kolhapur beat Mumbai 2-0 to enter the final of the WIFA Interdistrict U-17 Girls Tournament
Mumbai and Kolhapur faced off in the first semi-final of the WIFA Interdistrict U-17 Girls Tournament today.
Mumbai had the worst start to the game as they conceded an own goal in the early moments of the game. In the 5th minute of the game, on the attack, Kolhapur’s Nidhi beat Mumbai goalkeeper Purva in a 1v1 situation. Nidhi chipped the ball over Purva, Himanshi ran back to cover her keeper and tried to clear the ball but it took a deflection and ended up in the back of the net.
Kolhapur scored the second goal of the game in the 36th minute through Soumya. Kolhapur’s Sharvari played a beautiful ball that pierced through Mumbai’s defense and found Soumya who placed it in perfectly to give her team a 2-0 lead.
Mumbai failed to get back into the game as it ended in a 2–0 win for Kolhapur.

First half goals down Nashik as Pune reach final

In the second semi-final of the day, Pune took on hosts Nashik. Both the teams started the game well and did not give each other many chances to break the deadlock in the opening minutes of the game.
Pune eventually opened the scoring in the 24th minute. A ball from the left wing came into the box which was not properly dealt by the Nashik goalkeeper. Pune’s Roshini took advantage of the situation and slotted the ball home to give her side the lead.
Six minutes later, at the half-hour mark, Pune scored again, this time courtesy of Purva. The Nashik goalkeeper again miscalculated the situation and Purva pounced on the opportunity and bagged the goal for her side.
Nashik could not make a comeback in the game as Pune came out on top in the end.

Kolhapur will face Pune in the final of the WIFA Interdistrict U-17 Girls Tournament on 18 May 2022 at 08:00 am.
