Western India Football Association in association with Mumbai Football Association celebrate AFC Women’s Day

Earlier this week, on March 13th, 2022, Western India Football Association (WIFA) in association with Mumbai Football Association (MFA) had celebrated AFC Women’s Day at Cooperage Stadium.

Inspired by the International Women’s Day that is celebrated on March 8th, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) along with 39 Member Associations (MA) in Asia celebrates the AFC Women’s Football Day by organizing various football activities across the Continent on March 13.

AFC Women’s Football Day is celebrated to recognize and promote the development of women’s football for women and girls of various backgrounds, regions, ethnicities, and age groups. WIFA resonating strongly with the ethos of gender equality has been regularly conducting the AFC Women’s Football Day event over the years at the Cooperage Stadium in Mumbai.

A grand women’s football festival was held with more than 50 participants including young footballers joining the fun activities. The festival included various football activities, fun games like juggling, dizzy penalty shoot-out challenge, etc., and a few exhibition matches.

Women and girls from different backgrounds, regions, ethnicities, and age groups from all over Maharashtra state took part in the activities.

Maharashtra minister of tourism and WIFA Vice President Mr. Aditya Thackeray was in attendance during the event to boost the girl’s morale. Ms. Madhurima Raje, WIFA Women’s Committee Chairman was also in the presence.
