PIFA Colaba, Mumbai Customs battle out a 0-0 draw at a rain-soaked Cooperage

Despite the heavy downpour and no goals, PIFA Colaba and Mumbai Customs played out an entertaining game of football at the Cooperage Stadium in game 5 of the MFA Harwood Champions League

On a rain-filled afternoon, PIFA Colaba and Mumbai Customs played out an entertaining 0-0 draw, thereby picking their 2nd point of the campaign on Matchday 5 of the MFA Harwood Premier league.

The game began with Customs taking the attacking route early on, Shrikant Veeramallu started a move with a lofted ball over the PIFA defense, Pragnesh Solanki on the wings made the run for the ball before sending in a cross into the PIFA box, however, Dhawal missed the header by inches as the score remained 0-0.

At the other end, PIFA created few chances of their own, Calvin Barreto’s attempt from distance going straight into the Keeper’s hands. Another PIFA attack was denied by a timely clearance from Abhishek Bhagat, the ball was received by Dhawal Waghela, who surged forward in attack before sending in a cross that was missed by the PIFA goalie, Gaston D’silva attempted header was just inches off target.

As the game progressed another chance came PIFA’s way when Nikhil Pal’s pass found Kaustabh Panchal in space however the latter’s shot went just wide of the post.

The second half began with PIFA continuing their attacking momentum, as another Panchal’s shot went straight at the keeper after Shamer Swamy had set up the shoot. PIFA came closest to the scoring when a cross from the right was taken on a volley by Nachiket Palav, only for the shot to come off the post as the score remained goalless.

At the other end, substitute Arjun Singh sent in a cross for Marc Dsouza, who laid it off for Praneel Mendon in space, whose left-footed attempt was wide off the post.

In the dying moments of the game, another chance came PIFA’s way when a looping ball came into the box, Amrendra Singh connected the bicycle kick but the ball once again came off the post before the Customs defense cleared it away. much to the agony of PIFA players.
