India’s future striker Subha shares time with idol Sunil

SC East Bengal’s 21-year-old striker Subha Ghosh expressed delight after facing boyhood hero Sunil Chhetri in their concluding ISL encounter against Bengaluru FC last week.

Bengaluru FC ended their season with a solitary goal win against SC East Bengal. Post the match, Subha met his boyhood idol Sunil and shared pleasantries. As Subha mentioned on his social media page, each word of wisdom spoken by captain fantastic will be etched in his memory for a long time. Sunil also gifted his playing jersey to the youngster.

“A childhood dream came true. The experience was surreal, I wanted to meet him for so long and finally, it happened. I missed a goal and he scored that day, although on the opposite team. I remember each and every word he said like a record. It has motivated me a lot and now every time I think about it I smile.” wrote Subha.

Subha Ghosh started his career at Mohun Bagan academy. After spending his initial days in the academy, he rose through the ranks and represented the senior team. He won the I-League with the Mariners during the 2019-20 campaign and later came onboard for the newly merged ATK Mohun Bagan FC.

Subha signed for SC East Bengal last season. Before playing for the Kolkata giant, he plied his trade for Kerala Blasters FC last year. He played three matches this season. For the first time in his brief ISL career, Subha was included in the playing XI in their last match.
