Churchill Brothers looking to bounce back against a strong RoundGlass Punjab side

The opening round of Hero I-League’s resumption will be wrapped up by a mouth-watering clash between RoundGlass Punjab and Churchill Brothers at the Naihati Stadium, West Bengal. The match will be played at 7.30 PM IST on Monday, March 4, 2022.

Speaking about the preparation for the upcoming match, head coach Ashley Westwood said, ” We went for a four weeks break and assembled as early as possible. Before coming here, we had a 2-week preparation period and luckily, all the players are fit to play. We are looking forward to the important match against Churchill Brothers who are one of the contenders to win the title. ”

Meanwhile, RoundGlass Punjab FC goalkeeper Lalthuammawia Ralte is also optimistic for the match, saying, ” We are a group of young and experienced players. There are quality players in various positions in our team. Mentally, we are prepared and hoping to get all three points against Churchill. ”

“There will be players who will miss the match (not be in the starting XI). However, our strategies will not change. We want to be on the front foot and take the game to the opponents. We are not here for pleasure. We aim to win the trophy. We know it will be tough tomorrow. The players have confidence in our ability to get all three points ” Ashley concluded

On the other hand, Churchill Brothers assistant coach Mathias Costa wants to forget the first game and focus on the next game as he said, ” Of course, we played a good first match. However, we didn’t get our result due to a lack of finishing. So, we want to create more chances and score goals.”

He continued, “The boys are raring to go after the restart. It is always important to get something out of the game. We want to forget the last match and focus on the next to get all three points.”

Former Hero I-League champion, Churchill goalkeeper, Shilton Paul has shown positive intent ahead of the match. “As the coach wants to build the attack from the back, I am also working on that. Our players are ready for the match. We are confident that we will get all three points,” Shilton added.

On the arrival of his former teammate Komron Tursunov, the ace goalkeeper said, ” I know him from his days in Mohun Bagan. He is a funny guy. We know Komron’s abilities from the last two seasons. So, he can play an important role in the team’s success this season. ”

On the opponents, the assistant coach mentioned, ” They have many experienced players and made very good signings. Of course, it will be a tough match. If we can convert our chances, we can get all three points.
