Angel Football Academy lift Amravati District Football League
Angel Football Academy ‘A’ defeated Amravati United Football Club in a penalty shootout to get crowned as Amravati District Football League Champions.
Amravati District Football Association inaugurated the Amravati District Football League on 22 February 2022.
A total of 16 teams from the district participated in the league. Each group constituted 4 teams, and the top 2 teams from each group qualified for the Quarter Final round.
Angel Football Academy ‘A’, Angel Football Academy ‘B,’ Amravati Football Club, and Amravati United FC progressed from the quarter-final stage to the semi-finals, which started on 23rd March.
Putting up a classic show, Angel Football Academy ‘A’ and Amravati United FC advanced to the final.
On 25 March, Angel Football Academy ‘A’ locked horns against Amravati United FC in the penultimate clash. For Angel Football Academy ‘A’, Sameer Shaikh opened the scoring in the 42nd minute. Laaeek Ahmed scored the equalizer for Amravati United FC in the 65th minute. The match ended in a stalemate at the end of regulation time.
The winners were decided through penalty shootouts, in which Angel Football Academy ‘A’ defeated Amravati United FC by a 4-2 margin.
