I’m an ambitious person, I want to win every title – Alberto Noguera

The former Atletico Madrid defender graced India this season with one ambition in mind, “To win everything that is available for the grabs.”

The 30-year-old Spaniard came up and close with Team FootballCounter to share about his responsibilities, his time at India, the raging pandemic and the passionate fans of Goa.

Here are the EXCERPTS:

After having played for significant clubs in the past, what is your take on FC Goa’s experience so far?

So far this experience is going very well. I am happy for coming to India, for picking this chance I had and I am excited about what’s coming.

What do you think is your role for FC Goa?

I really think that in a team there are no fixed roles. We are all here to help, to give our best and that is what I do every time I put my boots on. I go out on the pitch and do what the coach asks me to whilst trying to make the game easier for my teammates around me.

How has the coach helped you in terms of bonding with the other team members, adapting to different conditions and other things?

Juan has been really helpful from the very beginning to help us. He has tried to make us comfortable in every situation. We have a great atmosphere within the team and that is important. Everything else has come easy for me.

What are your personal ambitions with FC Goa?

I am very ambitious, so I want to win every game and win every title that we play.

How tough is it to maintain the bio-bubble norms and does it impact your mental health?

It is not easy, we know that the situation around the world is tough and we need to follow some rules for our health and for the health of all. I prefer to think that this situation is going to change soon.

What is your take on India, do you like the food?

I like it very much, I am excited and now looking forward to the day I can go out and try every restaurant. I know things about every beach by now and want to enjoy this amazing part of India.

This is your first season in India but playing in front of the empty stadium. How has been your experience with fans (on Social media)?

For me, football is not the same without people in the stadiums. I miss them very much. I hope to enjoy playing in front of them very soon and I wish we can celebrate things together. Meanwhile, I can always see them showering love on social media. For the time being, we will celebrate the season together online.

Alberto Noguera has been in formidable form and has assisted 7 goals this season. FC Goa are currently placed at the 4th position and they face Odisha FC tomorrow at the Fatorda Stadium.
