Hero I-League Suspended Following Rising In New COVID-19 Cases
COVID-19 has hit Hero I-League, and its future seems to be looming large with uncertainty as the league stands postponed until further notice.
The league started late this season due to the ongoing global pandemic and is now facing a severe crisis following a surge of new COVID-19 cases inside the league’s bio-bubble. At the league’s inception, the organizing committee and AIFF (All India Football Federation) took all necessary steps to ensure the players’ safety and the individuals involved.
The AIFF announced earlier this year that it would organize the I-League in Kolkata inside a bio-bubble with only closed-door matches and enforce mandatory quarantine for the clubs involved on arrival.
The league also encourages its participating clubs and players to adhere to COVID-19 norms such as social distancing, wearing masks, and vaccination. Amidst all these precautionary measures, it is unfortunate that the league has new COVID-19 cases.
The league has already had several controversies in Matchweek-1, and the new surge in COVID-19 cases within the bio-bubble has complicated matters.
