Fan Voice – Gaur fans laud Glan Martins impact

FC Goa is journeying to secure their place in the Indian Super League Finals as they face Mumbai City FC on 8th March 2021 at the GMC Stadium. The teams faced each other a few days ago in their semi-finals leg. The match ended in a draw with both sides scoring a brace.

Angulo scored from a penalty for FC Goa followed by a classic effort from Gama. FC Goa fans have supported their team through thick and thin and will expect the team to proceed into the finals.

“Quite happy with the result as we have not given Mumbai City FC any lead, with Noguera and Ivan coming in the second leg, I’m pretty sure we will win the match,” says Ankit Kumar, an ardent FC Goa fanatic when asked about FC Goa’s performance in the first-leg. He praised Ortiz and Gama and emphasized the lack of composure defensively.

Kartik Gobre, a student and an FC Goa fanatic mentioned the key players who missed the first-leg and its impact on the team. “Very happy with the result of the first leg. Watching key players getting injured and missing the game was heartbreaking. Players like Brandon, Ivan and Noguera were greatly missed in the last game. We saw a great display from Ortiz who was at his best at creating chances and assisting the goal.”

“Goa needs to make the defence strong in the second leg with Ivan returning, it will give a boost to their confidence. With Noguera coming in and Ortiz putting a performance worth of the starting XI. It will be difficult for Juan to select the players but it will also give an option on the bench if needed to make an impact.”

The decision taken by the referee was upsetting towards the fans especially in regards to the tackle and the penalties. Saiel Naik from the East Lower Army said, “Happy with the way the boys played, but upset with the refereeing, two penalties were not granted, also when Fall tackled the young lad Princeton, Fall was given only one yellow card, which was not just. Still, without the key players, we’ve played very well. Glan, Gama and Leander deserve a big shoutout.
Glan Martins was outstanding on the pitch as he was a crucial link between the defence and the forwards. Glan was an incredible player in the last game. Ortiz was also another player to watch in the last game.

Glan was the most impressive player according to Saiel Naik as he was everywhere on the pitch. He also added, “Ortiz with his lightning-fast dribbles and the way he played Mumbai’s defence was a great work.”

He concluded by saying, “We have to go with positive and must win attitude one game at a time should be our strategy.”

FC Goa faces Mumbai City today at the GMC Stadium from 19:30 IST.
