Coach Bimal Ghosh set to return to Mumbai

Renowned professional football coach Bimal Ghosh is set to make a coaching comeback in the city of dreams, Mumbai. Ghosh, who has over 25 years professional coaching experience and enjoyed a successful stint as Head Coach of local giants Air India and Mumbai Tigers makes a return to Mumbai football by setting up a football academy in the western suburbs of the city. Ghosh is currently settled in Nagpur and is the founder and head coach of Nagpur FC.

Ghosh, recipient of the National Football League ‘Best Coach’ award, will be shortly launching the Wings Mumbai Heroes Football Academy at the multi-sport Wings Sports Centre, near Lilavati Hospital Bandra (West). He will be assisted by Paresh Shivalkar, an AFC ‘B’ License holder and a former Maharashtra player and has the support of  a couple of football enthusiasts which include MDFA Hon. Treasurer Udayan Banerjee, Sunil Poojari, Rayan Roy Shah, Ranvir Singh and Leeladhar Bhangera.

The Wings Mumbai Heroes Academy will be open for boys and girls from ages five years and above. The training sessions will be conducted in two sessions (morning and evening) from Monday to Friday.

Ghosh mentioned that the launch date is yet to be decided as he is waiting for the Maharashtra state government to lift the lockdown procedure for football activities. “I cannot confirm the exact date for the launch of the academy. But from our side everything, including all the planning, scheduling and the training progammes are finalised. We are only waiting for clearance from the state government,” pointed out Ghosh, a three-time coach of the Maharashtra state team.

Talented youngsters, both boys and girls would be selected to form the Wings Mumbai Heroes youth teams which will participate in the MDFA Yuva Presidents League.

Ghosh also plans to set a professional football team to participate in the MDFA Elite Division and also dreams of playing in the I-League. “I first want to concentrate on  nurturing the talent of the Mumbai youngsters and mould them into top class players who can go on to represent the state and  country. My next goal is to have a team play in the MDFA Elite League and other local tournaments and also the I-League. I would also like to encourage the girls by forming a women’s team to play in the MDFA tournaments,” said Ghosh

All young footballers interested in improving their skills can join the academy. For registrations contact Leeladhar Bhangera on 9920914589.
