Breaking: Coach Sergio Lobera sacked?

According to reports, Hero ISL League leaders FC Goa have decided to part ways with their Spanish Coach Sergio Lobera after almost three-years associations with the club.

Although it has not been officially announced by the club, rumours  of Coach’s sacking had already made the rounds on social media before various media outlets broke the news of sacking.

Despite leading ISL table charts, reports have claimed FC Goa management to have decided to part ways with their highly successful coach Sergio Lobera.

The Spaniard was in his third year at the club and had already led the team to a semi-final finish in 2017-18 season, runners up in 2018-19 and trophy victory in the form of Super Cup.

Lobera was Goa’s only the second coach after Brazilian legend Zico led the Gaurs for the first three season. With the 3-way battle between ATK, Goa and Bengaluru FC for the top spot, the timing of this sacking can turn out to be critical for FC Goa’s future performance and has the possibility of derailing the league campaign.

At the time when FC Goa have been delivering results this sacking reports has not gone down well with the fans with many expressing their displeasure on FC Goa fan pages.

It will be interesting to see whether this reports are true or not and if true whether the management go for a new coach or keep assistant coach Derrick Pereria for the rest of the season. Either way, players have to keep their focus on the league with Champions league spot on the line.
