ATK Mohun Bagan vs FC Goa: 3 Key battles to watch out for

FC Goa are all set to take on ATK Mohun Bagan in their sixth league encounter of the season. The match will be held at the famed Fatorda Stadium in Margao, Goa.
The Gaurs come into this encounter on the back of two consecutive wins in the competition. Head coach Juan Ferrando will be pleased with his side’s performance in their wins over Kerala Blasters FC and Odisha FC.
We take a look at three key battles that will shape up the encounter between ATKMB and FC Goa.
1. Arindam Bhattacharya v Igor Angulo
ATK Mohun Bagan keeper Arindam Bhattacharya has been in fine form between the sticks with three clean sheets to his credit. His stability has been crucial for the positive start for the Kolkata based franchise. On the other end, Igor Angulo has been on a tear since making his ISL debut. The Spaniard has scored six goals in the competition and leads the scoring charts.
2. Pronay Halder v Jorge Ortiz Mendoza
The Spaniard may have just one goal to his name, yet Ortiz’s influence cannot be ignored. Jorge Ortiz Mendoza operates all across the midfield threading key passes for the Gaurs’ attackers ahead. The Gaur midfielder is not shy of taking the shots as well with 10 shots on target so far, most by any player in the league. At the other, Habas may look towards India International Pronay Halder to break the Gaur attacking threat. With Javi Hernandes and Michael Soosairaj absent due to injuries, Pronay’s defensive midfield role will be crucial in breaking down Goa’s attack.

3. Roy Krishna v John Donachie / Ivan Gonzalez
Roy Krishna has continued his fine goalscoring form from last season into this year as well. He has been influential with his dangerous movement in the opposition box and is a threat from setpieces as well. To counter the lethal Krishna, FC Goa will rely on the Australian defender James ‘Don’ Donachie and Spaniard Ivan Gonzalez in their ranks. With their sturdy physical presence, both Ivan and Donachie will have to deal with Krishna’s pace and ability to sneak into goal scoring position.
We are in for a mightily exciting encounter at the Fatorda Stadium as two attacking outfits lock horns against each other.
