Super Division: Abuzer-Kole help Sporting halt Reliance passing machine

Mumbai, February 14, 2019: Tarun Sporting brought Reliance Youth Council’s formidable passing machine to a halt in a 2-0 win at the Neville D’Souza Ground on Thursday.

Momin Aakef Abuzer’s ripper of a goal in the 45th minute stunned Reliance into submission! A peach of a goal that flew into the net from 30 yards out! The goalkeeper had no chance!

Sporting cut out Reliance’s passing options with a high pressing game as they threw men behind every ball.

They didn’t simply sit back and allow them to dictate terms. Reliance had their rhythm disrupted!

Sporting goalkeeper Chetan Dhanu pulled off a superb save from Gulab Rauth in the 4th minute. Rauth almost scored for Reliance in the 25th minute only to head wide from inside the area. Abuzer had a good shot parried away by the goalkeeper.

The first half ended 1-0 to Sporting as Reliance looked out of ideas against rock-solid defending. Thoi Singh Huidrom hit his shot wide from the left in the 53rd minute and Reliance pushed forward. Akash Khadka — Sporting’s David Beckham — impressed as he bombed in crosses from the right flank throughout.

Manish Kole hammered the final nail in the Reliance coffin with a goal in the 95th minute. 2-0 and Reliance had crumbled!

It was curtains for Reliance who clearly didn’t have a Plan B in place. The passing machine ground to a halt!
