Mumbai Derby: Air India to face ONGC on Monday

3rd March 2019, Mumbai: On Monday afternoon, two of the best teams ever to come out from the city of dreams, Air India and ONGC, will clash in the Mumbai Derby at the Cooperage Stadium.

In what shall be a cracker, the former I-league sides will be meeting in the ongoing MDFA Elite Division (Corporate Group). With ONGC on the top of the table, Godfred Pereira’s Air India is vying to close the gap as they are sitting third in the standings.

After a slow start, Air India picked up their routine form and currently in a good shape. On the other end, ONGC will be hoping to continue their staggering campaign. The defending champions have won eight of their nine games so far this season. The impressive part is ONGC’s excellent attack which has scored the most number of goals with 25 strikes.

The likes of Himanshu Patil, Sunil, Siddharth Nayak has been outstanding and would be crucial on Monday against their closest-rival Air India. Meanwhile, Air India will be without their skipper Vijith Shetty as he is recovering from an injury. This would be a good time for the young players to step in and prove their point.

Just like previous seasons, Air India’s defense has been impeccable with the likes of Santosh Koli and Tejas Raut in a hot form. Although all eyes will be on Scott D’Souza, Rinaldo Fernandes, Kiran Pandhare, and Shravan Shetty, who are likely to be threatening in front of the goal.

Over the years, the Mumbai football fraternity has witnessed a cracking showdown between both these sides. On Monday, it won’t be any different.
