Mumbai Customs blanks Rayon 4-1

Mumbai Customs

24th January 2019, Mumbai: In an early kick-off game, Mumbai Customs blanked Century Rayon 4-1 to register a crunching win in the MDFA Elite Division (Corporate Group) at the Cooperage Stadium on Thursday morning.

With this win, Customs has moved to the second spot in the table with 13 points in 8 games, 9 points behind ONGC. On the other end, Rayon is struggling this season as they have won only once so far.

After a steady start, Rayon deservedly broke the deadlock through Thotchan Vashim in the 17th minute but soon began to crumble once Mumbai Customs started to press high up the pitch.

It was in the 37th minute when Marc D’Souza opened the scoring with a sublime finish. At the break, the score was locked at 1-1.

In the second-half, former Air India midfielder Shrikant Veeramallu gave Customs a 2-1 lead with a fine finish before Marc D’Souza got his second and Customs’ third goal to take the game beyond Rayon’s reach.

Dhawal Waghela put the final nail in the coffin after scoring Customs’ fourth goal to seal a deserving 4-1 victory.
