KSA Veteran’s Football Tournament: Day 1

4th February 2019, Mumbai: The 3rd edition of Late Shri Vishwanath Anchan Memorial Veteran’s Football Tournament, organized by Karnataka Sports Association, kick-started on Monday at the KSA Ground, Churchgate.

A total of 12 teams across Mumbai have participated in this tournament which will be a league-cum-knockout format. Ravi Anchan inaugurated the opening game which was played between Maharaja (Air India) and Tarun Sporting.

Day 1 Round-up: Maharaja (Air India) 0-0 Tarun Sporting

The 2017 Champions Maharaja (Air India) encountered Tarun Sporting in an entertaining game at the Cross Maidan, KSA Ground. With the likes of Godfred Pereira, Yusuf Ansari, Joginder Thapa, and Shyam Sawant in the side, Tarun Sporting did enough to hold them 0-0 in the opening game of the Tournament.

KSA (Melwin Vaz 14′ & 34′ and Glen Moraes 24′) 3-1 OFA (Deepak Diwakaran 19′)

The host KSA secured an emphatic win after brushing past OFA 3-1 to kick-start their campaign on a winning note. Melwin Vaz scored twice while Glen Moraes also got on the scoresheet. On the other end, Deepak Diwakaran scored the lone goal for OFA.
