Kenkre FC pips U-Mumba while CFCI hammers Bombay Muslims

Kenkre FC CFCI

18th March 2019, Mumbai: A fired up Kenkre FC side locked horns against U Mumbai, whereas, CFCI played Bombay Muslims in the MDFA Elite Division (Private Group) on Monday evening at the Neville D’Souza Ground, Bandra. Kenkre FC shut down U Mumba in a clinical display while CFCI hammered a struggling Bombay Muslims team 4-0 to take important three points.

Kenkre FC (Jay Bhavnani 18′ and Arish Sutaria 90 + 7′) 2-0 U Mumba

It has been a rare sight this season to see U-Mumba struggling to cope up against any Elite Division (Private Group) side. On Monday, Kenkre FC executed a perfect and disciplined game to see off their counterparts.

Throughout the first-half, Augusto D’Silva’s side dominated the proceedings with the likes of Shaun Fernandes, Mrunal Tandel, Ashrafali Makandar, and Jay Bhavnani playing in a top condition. It was in the 18th minute when Yogesh Negi’s pinpoint delivery was turned in by striker Bhavnani with a sublime finish.

Kenkre FC would have ended scoring three or four goals had not for Ashrafali’s unfortunate luck. Two of his attempts rattled the post in the first-half itself. After the break, U-Mumba stepped up and controlled the game but the backline of Shaun and Mrunal kept an in-form forward Karan Kapoor at bay.

The game was finally sealed in the injury time when Arish Sutaria scored from a brilliant counter-attacking move to snatch all three points for Kenkre FC.

CFCI (Mohd. Ishaq 27′ & 80′, Aman Gaikwad 20′, and Sherwin 75′) 4-0 Bombay Muslims

In the other game, Bombay Muslims’ misery continued as they suffered another huge defeat. This time at the hands of CFCI. Aman Gaikwad broke the deadlock in the 20th minute with a brilliant placement into the back of the net.

Bombay Muslims never looked in control and gave away the ball possession very cheaply. CFCI took this advantage and kept launching several attacks. Seven minutes later, Mohammad Ishaq doubled the lead with a sumptuous strike before Sherwin made it 3-0 late in the second-half.

Ishaq later added CFCI’s fourth and his second goal of the game to complete a comprehensive 4-0 win to get going in the Elite Division Private Group.
