Hyderabad FC to miss Nestor Gordillo until December

Bottom-placed Hyderabad FC face a daunting task as ATK visit them for a Hero Indian Super League clash at the GMC Balayogi Athletic Stadium here on Saturday.

Ahead of their debut match in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) against ATK in Kolkata, Hyderabad FC will miss the services of new signing Nestor Gordillo.

Spanish midfielder Gordillo will be ineligible for selection for Hyderabad FC’s first eight games of the 2019-20 Hero ISL. Gordillo was handed a four-month ban by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Players’ Status Committee on 13 August 2019.

Nestor had a stunning debut season in Indian football scoring 9 goals in 22 games and playing a vital role in Chennai City FC’s title winning campaign. Following the end of season, the midfielder then signed a ‘pre-contract” with the now defunct FC Pune City, despite having a year left in his contract with I League champions. For this breach of contract, the committee had asked the Spaniard  to pay a compensation of three-months salary to his former club and pay a fine of Rs 50,000 to the AIFF.

Although, Nestor would currently play for Hyderabad FC, who replaced the now Pune City FC, the ban and the fine will still be in effect. This means  Hyderabad FC will make their ISL debut without the Spainard on Friday (October 25) in an away game against two-time former champions ATK at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan.

Latest, the 30-year-old can be available for current ISL season is the reverse fixture when Hyderabad FC host ATK on 21 December 2019.
