Forca Goa Foundation to participate in Global Goals World Cup

Goa, January 30, 2019: Forca Goa Foundation will participate in the Global Goals World Cup at Fr. Agnel Multipurpose School and Junior College in Navi Mumbai on Saturday.

The Global Goals World Cup is a global sporting event that aims to inspire amateur athletes to become champions of the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. It aspires for progress and change in their communities.

Players from FC Goa Women’s team and other local players will participate in the event. Apart from the number of goals scored teams will be judged on the impact and awareness they create on the sustainable development goals that they support.

The Forca Goa Foundation is a sister concern of FC Goa. It aims to use football as a tool for positive development. It wants to achieve sustainable development goals through its various initiatives. It is the sole representative from Goa for the event.

Ishita Godinho (Community and Women’s Development Manager, Forca Goa) said: “FC Goa and Forca Goa Foundation have always sought to not just grow the game of football but also cultivate the culture around it and use it as a tool to create a positive impact in the community. The ethos of this event goes right in line with what we aim to do. And with us looking at developing women’s football through our grassroots program and women’s team, we feel this provides us with a great platform to showcase our efforts.”

The initiative is hosted in partnership with the UNDP, EIR Soccer and Sustainable Mindz for the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. There have been 10 Global Goal World Cups across the globe so far. This is the first time that the event is being held in India.
