FIFA WCQ 2022: Robert Jarni feels team India will yield positive results against Bangladesh

Robert Jarni, the Head Coach of NorthEast United FC and a good friend of Igor Stimac feels the Indian Senior National Team will yield a positive result against Bangladesh. The two teams meet in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Qualifier at the VYBK in Kolkata on 15th October.

Robert Jarni lauded India’s performance against Asian giants Qatar and claimed it to be nearly perfect. Jarni claimed that India had the potential to bag all three points at the fag end of the match as they created an excellent chance. NorthEast United FC played a friendly match against the National side where the match ended on equal terms.

“But now, against Bangladesh, they need to prove the point and I think with this set of players whom Stimac has chosen, the Blue Tigers can expect a positive result against Bangladesh,” opined Jarni.

Sunil Chhetri scored India’s sole goal in the 1-1 draw against the Hero ISL Club side in the 34th minute – a strike which was nullified by Ghanian World Cupper Asamoah Gyan in added time of the first half.

National Team Head Coach Stimac said that the team needs to work on setpieces and combinations. “We’ll need to work on set-pieces, combinations and choose the best eleven for the game. We have another four days for recovery before the match,” Stimac said after the friendly match. “The boys are ready. We’re very excited to go to Kolkata.”

Meanwhile, Sandesh Jhingan suffered a knock in the first half and was substituted by Nishu Kumar. “We will have a close look at Sandesh’s injury and assess it accordingly,” Stimac informed. However, he has been ruled out of the match against Bangladesh.

The India National team will reach Kolkata on October 13, 2019.
