CFCI blanks Mumbai Strikers 5-0

CFCI Mumbai Strikers

29th March 2019, Mumbai: On Friday evening, Mumbai Strikers encountered CFCI in the MDFA Elite Division (Private Group) at the Neville D’Souza Turf, Bandra. Mumbai Strikers poor run of form continued as they suffered their worst defeat of the season after going down 5-0 against CFCI.

After a steady start, Mumbai Strikers lost control of the game when CFCI started pressing high up the field. Just like previous games, Mumbai Strikers was finding it difficult to move the ball forward and lost the possession very cheaply.

CFCI’s hard work finally paid off in the 41st minute when they were awarded a penalty. Vaibhav Karpe stepped up and comfortably converted from the spot to put CFCI in the driver’s seat just before the break. They started the second-half just like they ended the first. Youngster Reshon Sam headed home to double the lead before Vaibhav Karpe got his second with an easy tap in.

Mumbai Strikers’ situation worsened when Rakesh Patne ended up scoring an own-goal. Reshon followed Vaibhav’s path to score his second of the game with a great penalty to complete a memorable 5-0 win. Mumbai Strikers needs to sort out their problems before it’s very late. With four teams qualifying for the next round, Sandeep Singh’s side must forget the recent results and look forward to the remaining games to find the positive outcome.
