CBI upsets Air India 1-0 in Super Eight

CBI Air India

16th April 2019, Mumbai: Air India’s below-par season continues as they once again failed to kill the game after dominating for the majority of the match. In the MDFA Elite Division Super Eight fixture, Central Bank of India (CBI) upset Air India 1-0 to pick up all three points at the Neville D’Souza Turf (Bandra).

It has been quite evident this season that Air India has struggled upfront big time. Little did they knew their problems would continue in the Super Eight as well.

They have being the dominant side for several games but the final outcome has hardly reflected their performance. Such was the instance when they met CBI on Tuesday.

Throughout the match, Air India kept the possession and dictated the play but they were unable to find the back of the net. CBI stayed compact and defended brilliantly as well but the constant pressure from Air India was immense.

This made CBI pushed forward a bit in the second-half which proved to be beneficial. In the 64th-minute, against the run of play, Raj Bhoir’s precise free-kick was headed home by in-form Yogesh Kadam which broke the deadlock. Air India kept attacking but failed to convert their chances into goal as they suffered a huge setback in the Elite Division Super Eight round.
