Catholic Gym Rink Football: Jason Miranda does the ’trick for Amboli

Mumbai, May 10: Dashing striker Jason Miranda displayed clinical finishing and notched up  a fine hat-trick in leading Macabi Amboli to a fluent 3-0 win against Joga Bonita ‘B’ in a well-contested Men’s Open second round match of the Catholic Gymkhana Rink Football Tournament 2019, played under floodlights at the Catholic Gymkhana’s artificial turf, Marine Drive. The tournament is being conducted under the auspices of the MDFA.

Earlier, defending champions Autonomous Sports Club produced a superb free-flowing attacking performance to sideline the upcoming outfit Future Stars 5-1 in another second round contest. Leading Autonomous charge to victory was striker Oliver Castelino who struck two goals, while Declan Gonsalves, Raphael Dias and Akshay Chavan, all chipped in with goal each. Future Stars lone goal came through Asadul Khan’s efforts.

Meanwhile, Pawan Mangela’s double strikes was the feature of St. Jude’s 2-0 victory over Kalina Trashers in an evenly fought Men’s Open second round clash.

Companeroes Sports Club also progressed to the pre-quarter-finals after they managed to get past Dadar XI by narrow 1-0 margin with Prathmesh B. scoring the all-important winner.

In a Veteran Men’s eencounter, St. Joseph’s, Juhu overcame Val 7 by a comfortable 4-2 margin. Trevor Fernandes and Sheldon Ferro, both struck two goals each for the Juhu side while Saby Caldeira and Kishore S. netted one goal each for the losers.
