Young Boys and SBI holds Bombay Gymkhana and Millat FC

4th February 2018, Mumbai: On Sunday, two MDFA Super Division were played – Bombay Gymkhana encountered Young Boys at Goans Sports Association while Millat FC played State Bank of India at Mumbai Football Arena, Andheri. Young Boys and State Bank of India produced a determined performance to salvage a draw against Bombay Gymkhana and Millat FC, respectively.
Group A: Bombay Gymkhana (Pratik Patil) 1-1 Young Boys (Shabaz)
Throughout the game, both the outfits kept the pace intact and displayed some of the best-attacking moves. It was Bombay Gymkhana who had an edge over Young Boys in the early stages of the match. The best chance come at the 30th minute when Rushad’s powerful shot was saved by Young Boys Goalkeeper Sarfaraz.
Souvaid Ansari, one of the best centre-half in the Super Division had a fantastic game as it was his experience and game reading which kept Young Boys on their feets, whereas Bombay Gymkhana had Pratik Patil and Jardin who guided the Gymkhana attack.
One of the highlights of the match was the spectators of Young Boys at the stand who played as the 12th man for their beloved club. There was a flurry of cards given by the Referee Rosario which included both yellow an red cards to control the game. The match became more intense after witnessing the first red card when a tackle from Shazad to Pratik Patil created a heated argument which led to Shazad’s dismissal.
Though Young Boys were playing with a man down, they surprisingly broke the deadlock after Souvaid’s initial pass inside the box was handled by a Gymkhana defender. The Referee had no hesitation in awarding the penalty to Young Boys. Shabaz stepped up and calmly converted his penalty from the spot to make it 1-0.
But Gymkhana responded well. Hussain set up Pratik who made no mistake in front of the goal as he placed his effort in the back of the net quite comprehensively. Pratik would have scored another which could have surely won it for Gymkhana but the Young Boys Goalkeeper Ansari Sarfaraz stood tall and denied Pratik who had a one-on-one opportunity.
It was wonderful to watch such a competitive and entertaining match as both the teams gave their heart to outplay each other.
Other results – Group D: Millat FC (Fahad 50′) 1-1 State Bank of India (Imran Khan 65′)
