Women COTIF Cup: Morocco’s late flurry of goals condemn India to another loss

Despite taking the lead early in the second half, late Moroccan assault proved too much as the Indian Women’s National Team ended up losing the game 1-5 in the ongoing Women COTIF Cup on August 05, 2018 in Valencia, Spain.

After a drab first half where both teams failed to make the most of their opportunities and went into the tunnel on level pegging, with the scoreline read 0-0, it was the Indian Women who opened the goal scoring tally of the match.

Santhiya latched onto an Umapati Devi cross in the 42nd minute and bundled it home to give the Indian Women a 1-0 lead. Morocco however equalized their deficit in the 49th minute when the African side scored from the penalty spot.

A minute later Morocco doubled took the lead and in the 56th minute the opponents breached the Indian defence and found the net once again as the scoreline read 3-1. Two back-to-back goals in the 69th and 70th minute for Morocco completed the rout as the Indian Women lost 5-1 to the African side.

The Indian Women play their last match in the COTIF Cup next on August 06, 2018 against Madrid C.F.
