WIFA Women’s league: Dhanvi Patel scores for Future Stars

Future Stars FC were made to work hard for their narrow 1-0 win against UPSA (United Pune Soccer Association) in a Group-A league match of the Western India Football Association (WIFA) conducted Women’s Football Championship 2018, played at the Cooperage Football Stadium.

After a barren first half, striker Dhanvi Patel from a snap effort scored the decisive winner in the 49th minute to secure Future Stars victory.

In another match, Football School of India and FC Kolhapur City shared honours as they played out a 2-2 draw. Pratiksh Mithari scored both the goals in the first half to give the Kolhapur side a 2-0 lead. But, Football School fought back and scored through Pooja Dhamal  and Karishma Vazirani to salvage the draw.

Results – Group-A: Future Stars FC 1 (Dhanvi Patel) beat United Poona Sports Club (UPSA) 0.

Group-B: Football School of India 2 (Pooja Dhamal 55′ and Karishma Vazirani 80+3′) drew with FC Kolhapur City 2 (Pratiksh Mithari 33′ & 43′).
