United Football Club & Miners FC cruises to victory

8th January 2018, Mumbai: Monday saw Miners FC facing Rizvi Ceramics in Group A match of MDFA First Division and United Football Club vs Hedgewar Boys in Group J clash of Third Division at St. Xavier’s Ground, Parel.

First Division (Group A) – Miners FC (Varun PV) 1-0 Rizvi Ceramics

Miners continued their undefeated run with a yet another win, this time against a strong Rizvi Ceramics side where they won the game 1-0 to bag their fourth victory of the campaign. Rizvi Ceramics suffered their second loss and is still third in the Group A standings.

Varun PV’s solitary strike turned out to be the difference as both the sides missed numerous opportunities throughout the match.

Third Division (Group J) – United Football Club (Faizal Khan 18′ and Meghan Pradhan 42′ own-goal) 2-0 Hedgewar Boys

In the Third Division match, United Football Club produced a fine display to breeze past Hedgewar Boys 2-0 to record their fourth win in six games this season. They are currently undefeated with four wins and two draws while Hedgewar Boys suffered their third loss in six games.

UFC’s steady start was followed up by Faizal Khan’s 18th-minute fantastic strike which gave them a major boost ahead of the second-half. An unfortunate own-goal by Hedgewar Boys’ Meghan Pradhan in the 42nd minute gave away the match as United Football Club marched to victory.
