Transfer Update: A day after signing for Mumbai City FC, Anwar Ali loaned out

Having signed Anwar Ali on a 3 year deal, Mumbai City FC have decided to loan the young Indian Defender to the I League club Indian Arrows – AIFF’s developmental project. The former Minerva Academy graduate has been a promising talent and has represented India in the 2017 FIFA U17 World Cup. He went on to be a part of Indian Arrows project in 2017-18 I league season featuring in 15 games for his side.

However, it is understood that in Indian Super League, Anwar Ali would be facing huge challenge of getting a regular playing time for the Islanders. With experienced players like Lucian Goian, Souvik Ghosh, Anwar Ali (the other older one), Subhasish Bose, Souvik Chakraborty, Davinder Singh and Bikramjeet Singh, it will be difficult for the 17 year old to secure his place.

Keeping in mind the player’s development, Mumbai City FC has announced that they will loan out Anwar Ali to I League Club Indian Arrows for the upcoming 2018-19 season

FootballCounter Verdict:

This is probably a good decision from the club to allow the player to be loaned out to Indian Arrows which would guarantee some regular playing time, which is a necessity for any young players of his age. With a three year contract already signed, the Islanders would eventually benefit from it as he gets better and better with regular experience.
