Super Division: Dena Bank and Central Railway (MD) cruises to victory
4th April 2018, Mumbai: A combined of two MDFA Super Division games were played at the Mumbai Football Arena (Andheri) on Monday and Tuesday. Dena Bank continued their fine run of form with a 4-3 win while Central Railway (MD) got a much-needed win against West Zone United.
Dena Bank (Anees Pathan 2′, Denzil Mascarenhas 43′, Ashish Yadav 60′ and Pinto 86′) 4-3 Companeroes (Pranit Kadam 46′, Kenneth Dessena 50′ and Sheldon Rego 90 + 2′)
Dena Bank played Companeroes on Monday evening. In what was a thrilling encounter, Dena Bank registered a 4-3 win to continue their dominant form this season. Anees Pathan opened the scoring in the second minute of the game to put Dena Bank in the driver’s seat. The Bankers dominated the first-half and doubled the lead just before the half-time through top-scorer Denzil Mascarenhas.
Companeroes responded brilliantly and scored two quick goals in the second-half. Pranit Kadam and Kenneth Dessena scored in the 46th and 50th minute to level the score. But Dena Bank left no stones unturned as Ashish Yadav and Pinto scored one each and restore Dena Bank’s two goals lead. Companeroes did pull a goal back through Sheldon Rego in the stoppage time but it wasn’t enough as Dena Bank romped to a victory.
Central Railway ‘MD’ (Kaustubh Sardal 67′ and Asif Jamal 77′) 2-1 West Zone United (Shahi Arbaz 60′)
On Tuesday, Central Railway faced West Zone United. Both the sides needed a win here following an underwhelming season. The Railways just did enough to pick up a crucial 2-1 win.
West Zone United was in front through Shahi Arbaz’s strike in the 60th minute but Central Railway made a great comeback through Kaustubh and Asif to snatch all three points.
