Salsette FC & Bombay Gymkhana register narrow wins

7th January 2018, Mumbai: On Sunday afternoon, two MDFA Super Division matches were played at Goan’s Sports Association, Churchgate. Salsette faced Father Agnels while Bombay Gymkhana encountered Mumbai Muslim.

Group A: Salsette 2-0 Father Agnels (Mohit Rau 39′ and Sahil Mukane 88′)

Salsette continued their fine form to snatch all three points against Father Agnels in Group A encounter. After a steady start from both the sides, Father Agnel ran out of gas. Salsette made the best out of the situation and capitalized just before the half-time.

Mohit Rau opened the scoring with a sublime goal which put Salsette in the driver’s seat before the break. Father Agnels lost the momentum right there and never picked themselves up in the second-half after missing numerous opportunities.

In the 88th minute, Sahil Mukane put the game beyond doubt with a superb strike to give Salsette all three points. This was Salsette’s second win in as many games. They are currently sitting at the top of Group A with six points.

Group A: Bombay Gymkhana (Pratik 8′ and Farzad 63′) 2-1 Mumbai Muslims (Yash Shah 3′ Own-goal)

In the other Group A game at Goans Sports Association, Bombay Gymkhana’s superior attack helped them to seal a 2-1 victory against their counterpart Mumbai Muslims. This was Bombay Gymkhana’s first Super Division match this season and it turned out to be a positive start.

Amusingly, the Gymkhana had a disaster start. Yash Shah scored an unfortunate own-goal which gave Mumbai Muslims an early lead in the 3rd minute itself. But Gymkhana responded brilliantly when Pratik levelled the score just five minutes later to make it 1-1.

The decisive goal came in the 63rd minute through Farzad’s clinical finish which completed a memorable turnaround for Bombay Gymkhana.
