Reports: Argentina set to axe key player in clash against Nigeria

Reports: Argentina set to axe key player in clash against Nigeria
Argentina have a do-or-die match against Nigeria on 26th June
South American heavyweights Argentina came into this FIFA World Cup as the hot-favourites and front-runners, but have been suffering due to poor form.
World Cup debutants Iceland held Argentina 1-1 in their first match, where Lionel Messi missed a penalty. However, they were completely outclassed and dominated by Croatia in their next game.
Lionel Messi and Co. looked otiose and were unable to get the better of the Croatian midfield. Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric and FC Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitich joined together to put Argentina to the sword.
On 26th, Argentina will face Nigeria in a do-or-die clash. The team should win the game against Nigeria on a good margin, to qualify for the knock-out stages.
Their performance against Croatia has already put questions over team selections and tactics. Reports from The Mirror suggest that Argentina are likely to drop their key players from starting XI in their clash. The same report suggests that Aguero, who had an incredible season with Manchester City, will not likely start against Nigeria.
The Manchester City striker has failed to impress in the two games he played in the FIFA World Cup 2018. He struggled to find the back of the net and has been criticized massively by fans and media alike.
Willy Cabellero, whose blunder led to Croatia’s first goal, along with Enzo Perez and Marcos Acuna are also likely to face the wrath of the coach.
