Our Lady of Egypt (Kalina) defends their Orlem Super Cup title

10th March 2018, Mumbai: On a nervy Saturday night, Our Lady of Egypt (Kalina) pinned Holy Cross Kurla to successfully defend their All Mumbai Inter-Parish Orlem Super Cup at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, (Orlem Malad West). After the game ended 0-0 in normal time, the Kalina-based team outscored Holy Cross Kurla 3-0 in penalties to lift the prestigious trophy.

Tournament’s top-scorer and Golden boot winner Tyson Pereira who had earlier smashed four goals in the semi-final against St. Gonsalo Garcia Parish (Mira Road) was not able to find the back of the net in the final but he did manage to convert from the spot in the penalties.

Besides Tyson, his teammate Dan Dias and Bipin Rawat also converted their penalties. Our Lady of Egypt’s Goalkeeper Vikram Singh, on the other hand, saved all the three penalties and ended up receiving the best goalkeeper of the tournament award. Holy Cross’ Shailesh Jadhav won the best player of the tournament award while Our Lady of Egypt’s Dan Dias won the best player of the final award for his impressive performance.

The tournament was organized by the Lourdes Sports Committee, church-affiliated sports body that has been conducting grass roots level sports interventions for the last 6 years in the local community. Sponsored by Dhoot developers, played under floodlights, the tournament had cash prizes for the Winners and Runners Up in each category while individual talent was also awarded. After an incredible and successful campaign, we are eager to see the 6th edition of Orlem Super Cup.
