MDFA : Alpresco FC and The Soccer academy register contrasting victories in 3rd division play-offs

29^th January ,2018 . It was the occasion for two important clashes in 3^rd division MDFA play-off matches. While in the group D clash,  Alpresco FC registered a comfortable 2-0 victory over Koli Samaj Housing Society , The Soccer Academy secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Pioneer Residency.

1^st Game – Alpresco FC (Baven,Nigel) 2 – 0 Koli Samaj Housing Society

In the first clash of the day Alpresco FC rode on goals from Baven Parmar and Nigel Monterio to earn a comfortable victory over Koli Samaj Housing society. With this win, Alpresco FC extended it’s winning run as well as consolidated on their top position in group D, with 6 points in 2 matches. Koli Samaj Housing Society, after this loss, will go below Judean United SC due to less goal scored , though both teams are currently tied on same points and same goal difference after equal no. of matches.

2^nd Game –The Soccer Academy (Aman) 1 – 0  Pioneer Res.

In the second and last match of the day, The Soccer Academy registered  a modest victory over Pioneer Res courtesy Aman Kori strike in the first half and extended their lead at the top of the table in group E, with 6 points from 2 matches. As the scoreline suggests, it was indeed a nail-biting encounter with Pioneer Residency giving a tough fight to the table toppers. After conceding a goal against the run of the play; which was nevertheless a deft finish over the custodian by Aman, holding on to a beautiful through pass from Dipesh Gupta; Pioneer Res. continued to attack in their opponent half, through-out the game. Pioneer’s left wing Gregory Menezes created enough problems for opposition defense, largely owing to his incisive runs from the left. He along with Salman, Riyaz and Vaishnav provided plethora of scoring opportunities to the forwards, who were to be eventually denied by The Soccer Academy defense . The Soccer Academy played the waiting game and held off their back line pretty well ;as well as capitalized on every single mistake from Pioneer players. Most of their attacks were sculpted by Fardin Sheikh, the attacking midfielder, who displayed a fascinating piece of performance . With this unfortunate loss  Pioneer Residency now lies at the bottom of the standing in group E.
