MDFA 3rd division Play-off: SDKT, Revolution SC through to Round of 16 after an enthralling game

With Round of 16 spot at stake both SDKT, Revolution SC played out an enthralling game that saw play-off stakes swinging through the match, in other game, Shoaib Baig hat-trick takes Om Saidham through to next round

In an amusing last day of MDFA 3rd Division play-offs, teams played out of their skin for the round of 16 spot with tides swinging in and out of their favour every now and then.

In the game between Iron Born and Alpha FA, both sides need a win to reach Round of 16 and it was Anas Shaikh’s 25th minute strike turned out to be the difference as Iron Born came out victorious and with all three points eliminating Alpha FA.

In the other game of the day, Sara FA faced Oranje FC needing a win to give itself a chance of a qualification and they looked well on course when Sayyed Rizvi opened the scoring in the 14th minute. However the lead was short lived as Dennis Pinto scored the equalizer 6 minutes later. In the second half Oranje FC took charge of the game with two more goals through Omkar Shinde and Shubham Chafe as the game ended at 3-1 score line.

In one of the most entertaining group game of the day, Revolutions SC faced off against SDKT with the third group team BMVM all having a shot at the Round of 16 spot pinned on the result of this game. The match started with Revolution SC taking an early lead when Suraj Bhayade opened the scoring in the 4th minute. Ten minutes later Suraj completed his brace doubling the lead for Revolutions SC as now SDKT were in a spot of bother too with their goal difference down to 0. However it was minutes after the restart that the game looked poised for all three sides as Akhil Bhat made it 3-0 for Revolutions SC. With minutes running out, SDKT put men forward in search of goals and soon Omkar Kalkar struck the decisive goal in the 45th minute to calm down the nerves of SDKT. With Round of 16 spot assured, both sides saw out the final minutes of the game as the match ended with 3-1 score line.

In the final game of the day, Om Saidham faced off against RCF Colony Boys needing just a draw to go through while the latter needed a win desperately for themselves to go through. However there seemed to be no drama in this game as Shoiab Baig’s hat-trick sent Om Saidham racing to a 3-0 lead and despite Amesh’s late consolation strike for RCF the game ended at another 3-1 score line as Om Saidham deservingly went through.
