Despondent Mark wanted Kerala Blasters exit

Kerala Blasters have had a pathetic journey so far in the league. Despite being termed as one of the best team in the league, Kerala Blasters failed to impress everyone.

Kerala Blasters sacked their coach Rene Meulensteen due to these string of poor results, and the team have now offloaded the youngster Mark Sifneos, who has scored 4 goals for the team during his jaunt with Southern outfit. But sources close to the developments have confirmed Football Counter that the player asked the management to release him.

This 19-year-old striker featured in 12 games for Kerala Blasters, and he scored their first goal in the campaign, against Mumbai City FC. When Rene was at the helm, he was the primary choice upfront. With Hume struggling with injury then, Mark Sifneos utilized his talent to cement his place in the team, which he obviously succeeded.

After Kerala Blasters parting their ways with Rene Meulensteen, this former RKC Waaljik player was not handled effectively by David James. With Hume in form after David James’ entry, the chance for Sifneos to be the primary option upfront saw a dramatic decline, and David James hardly used his services.

Mark was brought into the team by the former coach Rene, who hails from the same country as Mark does, and his absence might have also had an impact on him. All these circumstances, along with injury have made him ask the club to release him.

It’s also understood that the player is having offers from few clubs, whose names are not yet revealed. However, with Mark out of the team, Kerala Blasters, and David James will have to immediately employ a replacement for him, if they still want to get back in the title race.
