Lovren heaps praise on Modric, reveals he would be a Ballon d’Or winner
Modric dominant performance against Argentina made sure Croatia get all three points
Croatia have already won two games in the ongoing FIFA World Cup and have qualified to the knock-out stages. A fair share of the credits should be given to their midfield maestro Luka Modric, who has been in incredible form for the Croats.
Modric, who has been plying his trade for Spanish Football behemoths Real Madrid since 2012, has already bagged two goals to his name. He converted a penalty to score against Nigeria, while he scored an absolutely fantastic goal against Argentina.
According to his Croatian teammate and Liverpool defender, Dejan Lovren, Modric is an incredible player and may have won the Ballon d’Or, if he was a German or Spanish player. Lovren said, “Because we are a smaller country, he does get less attention than he deserves,”
“Modric would probably be getting more attention than he is right now if he was a German or Spanish player. He would maybe even be a Ballon d’Or winner.”
“It is a real pleasure to play with Luka Modric. We are all football lovers and we know Modric is an incredible player. He is one of the best in the world right now.” revealed Lovren.
Modric, Lovren and Co. will be looking to continue their good run against Iceland in the upcoming match. The team will also be keen to make this tournament one of the best in their history.
