KNFC and Bombay YMCA promoted to First Division

26th March 2018, Mumbai: On Monday, under the floodlights, two MDFA Second Division play-off league games were played at the St. Xavier’s Ground, Parel. KNFC and Bombay YMCA booked their place in the quarters and has promoted in the First Division alongside Maurya Youngstar, Mother Theresa FA, JMJ SC, Silver Innings, SRS Sporting, and Mumbai Rush.
Group D: KNFC (Sharique Khan 20′, Shoaib Shah 46′ & 56′ and Aniket Jadhav 63′) 4-4 Charkop (Hitesh Pardeshi 5′ & 33′, Keenan Burroughs 10′ and Prathamesh Koli 15′)
The first game of the night was itself a thriller. KNFC were 4-1 behind in the first-half, but an exhilarating response in the second-half salvaged a 4-4 draw against Charkop FC.
The draw was enough for KNFC as they gained a promotion into the First Division. KNFC managed to draw all the three games they played in the Group Stage. Shoaib Shah’s twin strike was followed by Aniket Jadhav’s 63rd-minute equalizer which earned them a place in the quarter-finals where they will meet Maurya Youngstar later today.
Group D: Classic Sports (Zaid Khan 38′ & 55′) 2-2 Bombay YMCA (Rahil Ansari 27′ and Sajid Ansari 46′)
In the second and final game of the night, Classic Sports held Bombay YMCA but that wasn’t enough to send them through as they crashed out.
A goal each from Rahil Ansari and Sajid Ansari had put Bombay YMCA 2-1 ahead but Zaid Khan’s second goal in the 55th minute avoided a defeat for Classic Sports. Bombay YMCA will play Mother Theresa later tonight.
