JMJ Sports Club qualifies for 2nd Division Final
3rd April 2018, Mumbai: On Tuesday evening, JMJ Sports Club played Maurya Youngstar FA in the first semi-final of MDFA – Mumbai District Football Association Second Division which was played at the St. Xavier’s Ground, Parel. After both the sides were locked at 1-1, JMJ Sports Club edged Maurya in penalties to book their place in the final of 2nd Division.
It took both the sides to settle into the game. As the match grew, JMJ started to take control of the match proceedings. The deadlock was finally broken when Rohan Kadam scored an outrageous strike to put JMJ in front in the 25th minute.
Maurya Youngstar responded quite well after going down but they were not able to breach JMJ’s backline which stood firm and strong at the back. The game turned on its head when Akhil Shetty equalized right at the death to take the match into penalties. JMJ held their nerves in the penalty shootout and overcame their counterpart 3-2 to make it into the final of Second Division.
JMJ Sports Club will face the winner of Mother Teresa Foundation vs Silver Innings FC which is the fixture of the second semi-final.
