JMJ SC to play Maurya Young Star in 2nd Division semis
27th March 2018, Mumbai: On Tuesday night, two Second Division play-off quarter-finals was played at the St. Xavier’s Ground, Parel. JMJ SC met SRS Sporting while Silver Innings FC faced Mumbai Rush. JMJ and Silver Innings FC have booked their place in the last four of Second Division with a hard-fought win respectively.
1st Quarter-Final: JMJ Sports Club (Daniel Fernandes 68′) 1-0 SRS Sporting
The first quarter-final was an entertaining battle. Both the sides had several chances to go in front but it was the strong backline on either side which took all the plaudits.
Just when everyone thought that the game is heading towards the penalty shootout, Daniel Fernandes’ late strike in the 68th minute pulled off a win for JMJ in what was a thunderous goal.
2nd Quarter-Final: Silver Innings FC (Suby Anthony 19′ and Ruben Sidhnoor 52′) 2-1 Mumbai Rush (Dylan D’Souza 16′)
In the second quarter-final, Silver Innings FC recovered from a 1-0 deficit to edge past Mumbai Rush 2-1 which secured their place in the semi-final. They will meet JMJ in a battle to book their berth in the final.
Dylan D’Souza had given Mumbai Rush a deserving lead in the 16th minute but Silver Innings fought back to score twice through Suby Anthony and Ruben Sidhnoor’s strike in the 19th and 52nd minute respectively.
