ICL U-19 colts thump past 8 goals against BEST while SIFC edges out VUFC whom Charkop FC replaces at the top in group H
7th February,2018 – It was an all-second division affair in MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) with four of them happening here, in St. Xaviers Ground,Parel. While in group H Charkop FC jumped to the top spot after a 2-1 victory over GKW Rangers A, toppling Veera United FC who lost out to SIFC in the same scoreline. Elsewhere ICL U-19 now leads the group F after a massive humiliation of BEST by 8-1 while Companeroes (B) edged out SOSMTSS 1-0 in group E
2nd Division Group H–Silver Inninngs FC (Gaurav 15′ 57′) 2-1 Veera United FC
‘In the final match of the day, Silver Iinings FC took on table toppers Veera United FC in the floodlit St.Xaviers ground. The match started on a great pace with SIFC troubling their opponents by incisive runs through both the sides, while Veera United ‘s attack mainly came through aerial balls from centre .
The best chance in this half for Veera United came when Sameer Niyazi released Raj Gundmela with a precise through from the middle to his right, but SIFC keeper Satyam closed in within a blink of an eye. Apart from few split attacks it was SIFC who was more dominant of the two. Vinit Negi,Mackvin Gaurea and Ajay Singh was in the charge of midfield operating through middle, while Deepak and Gaurav upfront where bringing in danger for VUFC owing to their speedy nature and pin-point ball distribution. Deepak,t he left winger especially deserves a mention for his deft ability to dribble and uncanny speed with the ball.
Soon the opening goal came from them at 15th minute when Vinit Negi produced a wonder of a cross from deep in his own half ,to which an onrushing Gaurav latched onto, and after a short sprint with the ball ,sent it past the VUFC keeper. As soon as the second half started VUFC tried to pile up the pressure in search of an equalizer by playing high backline.
Very soon they got what they wanted. It was few minutes of harakiri from SIFC as they gifted the first penalty with a foul on Praneet Patel the VUFC forward. But to the utter dismay Praneet, who took the penalty, shot it well wide of the right crossbar. But couple of minutes later Satyam, the SIFC goalie pushed Praneet in the box when it was not required and gifted the second penalty, which finally brought parity for VUFC.
But their joy was shortlived as Gaurav Narkar scored from a rebound after a freekick by Ajay Singh to ensure his team romps home dry and well. It was simply not VUFC’s day as their last chance in the form of Sameer’s free-kick hit the crossbar in the dying moments of the match. With this win SIFC extended their unbeaten streak to 5 matches while cutting short 5 match unbeaten streak of their group-topper opponent .
2nd Division, group H – Charkop FC (Koli 16′,Chris 43′) 2-1 GKW Rangers FC (A) (Sheldon 26′)
In another 2nd division match of group H, Charkop FC rode on twin strikes from Koli and Chris to overcome GKW Rangers FC (A) . Prathmesh Koli opened the scorebook in the 16th minute ,but GKWR replied just 10 minutes later ,courtesy strike from Sheldon Menezes. But a brilliant second half strike from Chris Pares which hit the lower and upper crossbar once before settling into the back of the net created the difference between the both sides. Charkop FC now jumps onto the top spot in this group leapfrogging VUFC.

2nd Division,Group E- Companeroes (B) (George 27′) 1-0 S.O.S.M.T.S.S
