FC India thumps past 9 goals against Dias United while in second division BOMBAY YMCA qualifies to play-off!

11th March,2018: FC India cruised to their 7th victories on the trot when they thumped past 9 goals against Dias United in a 1st division group D fixture while in 2nd division Bombay YMCA qualified to play-off with a 1-1 draw against Rudra FA. Meanwhile SRS Sporting retained their top position in group B with a narrow 2-1 win over second placed Lakers FC.

1st Division,group D :

FC India ( Sanath 11’,Krish 23’, Singh 28’ 50’ 64’ , Koli 40’, 45’, John 58’ 72’)  9-1  Dias United ( Dias 33’)

FC India rolled on their juggernaut to ransack Dias United 9-1 courtesy a hat-trick from Jaspreet Singh and brace by Ashley Koli and John Lawrence Prem.

FC India’s seventh win on the trot initiated with the strike by Sanath Valladares in the 11th minute following which Krish Arya added to the tally in the 23rd minute after which Jaspreet found the back of the net for his first goal 5 minutes later. Cajetan Dias pulled one back for Dias United in the 33rd  to relive a ray of hope which was  promptly swept away 7 minutes later by Ashley Koli when he pumped in 2 goals in the space of 5 minutes to put FC India 5-1. Jaspreet Singh scored his second goal at the stroke of 50th minute after which John initiated his brace 8 minutes later.

Singh and John completed their hat-trick and brace respectively when they scored one after another to set up a record 7 consecutive win for FC India. They now sits pretty at the top with 21 points from 7 games as it remains to see whether thee manage to get a full bounty with just 1 game remaining.

2nd Division,group G – Bombay YMCA (Shaikh 68’)  1-1  Rudra FA (Dubey 63’)

In a crucial group G encounter Bombay YMCA shared the spoils with Rudra FA to qualify for the play-offs. In a match where a win for Rudra FA could’ve seen them qualify for sure, YMCA started with more intent surprising the Rudra backline quite a few time. Sajid Ansari lead the distribution and threatened the goal with full-blooded scorchers which hit the crossbar couple of times. First real chance for YMCA came when Adnan Ansari sidenetted after getting a layoff by Arshad Ansari.

Rudra FA took their time but settled down handsomely and brought out array of attacks with the best chance falling their way Surendra Shinde’s looping shot hit the crossbar after a brilliant cross from Rajesh Dhamne. Anil Rathod the left winger of Rudra FA had a shot saved by a diving YMCA goalkeeper.

Rudra F.A drew the first blood after a series of attacking moves when a sublime through pass sent by him drew the YMCA custodian forward and Abhishek Dubey, the centre-forward beat the goalie with a strong but composed finish to the top of the net.

Bombay YMCA replied back with vengeance and levelled the score 5 mins later when Tabish Shaikh netted the equalizer with a brilliant finish into the left bottom corner as the ball hit the inside of the bar and settled into the back of the net to dash all the brewing hopes of Rudra FA. Thus YMCA finished in the second spot from the top with 19 points from 8 matches, 4 points ahead of their opposition Rudra FA who finished in the third spot.

2nd Division,group B : SRS Sporting ( Puro 4’,Jagtap 65’)  2-1  Lakers FC (Shubham 35’)

In the battle for group topper SRS Sporting peeped Lakers FC 2-1 here on Saturday evening. With both the teams already confirmed of their qualification to play-off it was more of a fight for dominance. Tanmoy Puro gave SRS the lead in as early as the 4th minute which took their compatriot by surprise. Lakers FC pressed hard for an equaliser which they finally got at the stroke of the half-time when Shubham Sathavase found the back of the net. Series of attacks followed in the second half with both the teams piling up pressure but Darshan Jagtap strike in the 65th all but sealed the victory for SRS Sporting who ended the preliminary group stage with a record 22 points from 8 games.
