ESIC thumps Income Tax 4-1

26th February 2018, Mumbai: Four second-half goals helped ESIC to record an emphatic 4-1 win over Income Tax in MDFA Super Division encounter at Mumbai Football Arena, Andheri on Monday afternoon. Unfortunately, this was Income Tax’s fourth straight loss in what was a disappointing performance.

With this win, ESIC has cemented their place just below Group C leaders Central Railway with 11 points in six games. Meanwhile, Income Tax is lying second from bottom with 0 points in four games.

The first-half was all about missed chances. Both the sides lacked the killer instinct in front of the goal after wasting numerous golden opportunities. The game picked its pace and intensity in the second-half which had a total of five goals by the time referee blew the final whistle.

Star forward Egypsio Noronha opened the scoring for ESIC in the 61st minute with a beautiful strike. Twenty-minutes later, Ajinkya Umasare doubled ESIC’s lead but Income Tax’s Marshal Francis pulled a goal back just a couple of minutes later to keep their hopes alive.

But ESIC had other plans as they capitalize on their chances and added two more goals through Alroy D’Souza and Egypsio Noronha which completed a deserving 4-1 win over a hapless Income Tax side.
