Denzil Mascarenhas bags double hat-trick for Dena Bank

6th January 2018, Mumbai: Earlier today, Dena Bank faced St. Paul’s in MDFA – Mumbai District Football Association Super Division clash at Mumbai Football Arena, Andheri. In what proved to be a humiliation, Dena Bank completed an 8-0 memorable victory, thanks to striker Denzil Mascarenhas’ double hat-trick, a feat which would be remembered for the years to come.

After a slow start, Dena Bank picked up the pace, especially their front two of Arafat Ansari and Denzil Mascarenhas. The latter opened the scoring with a brilliant finish from outside the box, giving Dena Bank a deserving lead. His partner-in-crime Arafat Ansari doubled Dena Bank’s lead with a sublime right-footed goal.

It would have been a different case had Denzil and Arafat converted the rest of the chances. The duo missed some great opportunities but in the end, it was the overall performance which helped Dena Bank to snatch all three points. Attacker Ashish Yadav made it 3-0 just before half-time to make sure Dena Bank’s victory in the first-half itself.

St. Paul’s never looked threatening. They lost the ball possession far too easily which made Dena Bank’s job easier. In the second-half, a ruthless Denzil Mascarenhas scored four times, adding to his two first-half goals already, he completed his double hat-trick with a fantastic finish.

With this win, Dena Bank is comfortably sitting at the top of Group B with six points in two games while St. Paul’s suffered their second straight loss.
