Dena Bank triumphs while Rhema and St. Paul’s settles for a draw

7th March 2018, Mumbai: On Tuesday, two MDFA Super Division matches were played at Mumbai Football Arena, Andheri. Rhema FC played St. Paul’s while Dena Bank encountered Central Railway (MD) in a crucial game. Denzil Mascarenhas bagged his second hat-trick of the season in Dena Bank’s 4-0 win, whereas, Rhema FC hold their nerves to snatch a draw against St. Paul’s.

Dena Bank (Denzil Mascarenhas 9′, 21′ & 83′ and Anoop Singh 16′) 4-0 Central Railway (MD)

Dena Bank recorded another win yesterday in the Super Division when they encountered a struggling Central Railway (MD) side at the Mumbai Football Arena, Andheri. And once again, Denzil Mascarenhas and Arafat Ansari combined together to snatch all three points for the Bankers.

In the first-half itself, Denzil Mascarenhas proved to be lethal when he scored twice to put Dena Bank in a commendable position. His link-up play with Anoop Singh and Arafat Ansari created problems for the Railways. Anoop Singh also got on the scoresheet which increased Dena Bank’s lead by three goals at the break.

Denzil completed his hat-trick in the second-half with a delightful finish to wrap up the game in style. Earlier this season, Denzil bagged a whopping double hat-trick against St. Paul’s in a sensational 8-0 win.

Rhema FC 2-2 St. Paul’s

In a four-goal thriller, Rhema FC scored late to snatch a crucial draw against St. Paul’s in MDFA Super Division clash at Mumbai Football Arena, Andheri. St. Paul’s played well throughout the game but they were not able to stop Rhema’s high pressing in the dying moments of the game.

After a cagey first-half where the score was locked at 1-1, St. Paul’s went ahead early in the second-half, taking a swift 2-1 lead. The backline of St. Paul’s did well enough to hold Rhema FC for the majority of the second-half.

Sitting back and soaking the pressure proved fatal for St. Paul’s as Rhema’s pressure finally paid off in the dying stages of the game. Zamaan Shaikh snatched a late goal to leave St. Paul’s in agony as it was their game to lose. Both the sides had to settle for a point as the Referee blew the final whistle.
