Deepak Pal’s strike gives CBI their second win in a row

22nd November 2018: Earlier today, Union Bank of India (UBI) played Central Bank of India (CBI) in the Bankers Derby at the Cooperage Stadium. Though UBI were favorites, a determined CBI side registered a narrow 1-0 win to win their second Elite Division game in a row.

Throughout the game, Union Bank of India (UBI) was all over Central Bank of India (CBI). Dwayne Vaz and Melroy Assisi once again controlled the tempo of the game and dominated the proceedings.

But UBI seemed toothless upfront as they didn’t take their chances. Last season, they had Scott D’Souza and Ranjeet Pandre, who were lethal in front of the goal. This time around, they lack a clinical striker.

UBI’s pain became CBI’s gain. They got one chance and Deepak Pal made sure to find the back of the net in the 37th minute of the game.

Once UBI got breached, there was no coming back as CBI defended very well to keep their attack at bay. Yet again, Rithick Mukherjee led the defense along with Aniket and Akshay to register another victory, that too keeping a clean sheet.

After this result, Union Bank of India (UBI) is yet to win a game in this campaign, whereas, Central Bank of India (CBI) is going strong so far, something which was quite the opposite last season. UBI must work on their finishing as the defense and midfield are doing just fine while CBI must improve in the middle of the park as they end up giving the ball possession cheaply.
